Re: OAU 747 au ute
well its going to be slow going until its back in one piece lol but here is some pics of todays spanner spining
I even slapped the the turbo on the old motor for a giggle I have a stocl motor coming this week to put in its place mostly so I can test everything as im sus on everything in this ute so many short cuts so ill put this motor in and see what happens. (don't worry it wont see any real boost ) a lot of work I know but once its all done I can then work on cleaning every thing up

Alot of work ahead of you by the sounds of that. You will get back together in 1 piece and it will be perfect when its done

Re: OAU 747 au ute
Did the replacement engine arrive mate, cant wait to see you putting the ute back together, I am certain that when you put it back together it will be as good as new, because you will be aware of what your doing, the ex owner had no clue by the look of the pics.

Re: OAU 747 au ute
the engine didn't arrive today no hurry and as for the previous owner this ute has changed many hands. zo many ppl with no idea have made for a fun process here. but as for me knowing what im doing your very wrong lol I have never played with a boosted car before this is all new to me but im taking a slow approach to everything and consulting with some people who have done this before

Re: OAU 747 au ute
yea probably a combination of things as I believe the motor was over boosted as streaching the bolts im about 80% the motor isn't much good but until I pull it down I cant be sure im going to smash a smaller size socket onto it and see if I can get them out after that im not to sure what to do . I was told it is a fully built motor.. forged pistons port head cam ect ect but from looking at it the head looks stock so .... oh well see what happens over the weekend I might get some spanner time if im lucky

Re: OAU 747 au ute
I had to smash a smaller socket on mine when I pulled the head off, as someone played around with it once before and had stripped a couple of bolts! I now bought a set of "metrinch" sockets that seem good for getting rounded bolts out.

Re: OAU 747 au ute
well it was as I suspected the motor was factory spec lol but all is not lost. I will strip it down and take all the little bits and pieces of it that I can use for spares I have another stock motor sitting here just putting off using it atm. im hoping after xmas if all goes to plan ( xr8 sells ) ill then rebuild the motor with forged goodies. see what happens wont count my chocks just yet lol

Re: OAU 747 au ute
well not a lot been going on here of late due to xmas and also a back injury. but as they say the show must go on lol . ok as the ute sits atm I have the dash out and the ecu ready to be put into were the original one sat as it looks better the were they had it placed. I also have put a standard motor back into it and put it all together but still not running yet .. I think its the fuel pump so going to swap it out shortly and then I hope I can start to play and figure out how I want to go about the set up
